Likewise, the number of mistakes that can be made is limited and too many errors will lose the game. It was thought that just clicking through the different screens would be boring quite quickly and so the time constraint is used to, hopefully, make the game more engaging. The game uses a timer and lives system to give an element of challenge to the game. There is also a review screen in which you can see each verbs with its past-participle and an image to convey the meaning. This sequence repeats with different sets of content. Finally, for the third task you have to re-order the phrase. The second task requires you to choose the correct word to complete the sentence. In the first task, you simply have to drag the verbs to match present to past tense forms.

The language used is quite basic, but I think it covers almost all of the basic past tense verb forms (regular and irregular) and a few more difficult ones. And so, this game is really just intended as a tool to practice verbs and sentences in past tense. The concept of past tense is difficult to illustrate visually and really is better explained by a teacher in a classroom. The aim of this game is not to explain or communicate the concept of past tense, rather it is just to practice using past tense. It is intended to be used by ESL (English as a second language) students, to review past participles. This game is for practicing past tense English verbs. Also, the matching screen now allows items to be dropped directly over a matching pair. Even when you have completed a level, you can continue practicing at that level, but it gives you no more knowledge points.Update September 2020: Changed some of the colors and fonts to improve visibility.

On your fourth misspelling, the question will be classified as incorrectly answered. Sometimes you may misspell a maximum of three times per question. It may therefore be necessary to read the text several times. A cloze test usually requires that you understand the context of the text in order to fill in the correct word. Sometimes, there's a question mark after the blank - if you click on the question mark you will be displayed a hint. These have been replaced with blanks in which you either must fill in the correct word, or select the correct word from a list. Level 3 to 4 Cloze test - In the game you will see a text in which certain words or numbers have been removed. You may misspell a maximum of three times per question. Both of these settings may vary between the levels, which you'll be noticed of when you play a level. The game creator has also decided if the answer is case sensitive, ie if it is important that you type in correct case. If so, the textbox, where you type your answer, will turn red or green as you type. The game creator may have allowed you to get feedback on your typing. It will reveal the correct answer, but you will not get any knowledge points for that round. If you're having trouble figuring out the correct answer, you can click on the button labelled 'Give Up'.

Once you figure out the correct answer, you will get knowledge points. If you make a mistake, you get to try again until you find the searched word or phrase. You must type the correct answer by yourself. Level 2, 5 Questions with text answers - On each level you will get up to ten questions with or without images, videos and audio files.
